Interlochen Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the return of noted opera professionals Nathan and Julie Gunn for a weeklong residency during Arts Camp 2017.

The Gunns will be in residence at Interlochen during the final week of Camp, July 31-Aug. 5. During the residency, the Gunns will host coachings, master classes and workshops for high school vocal artists and will present a recital on Aug. 2 at 8 p.m.

Both Gunns are currently on faculty at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Nathan Gunn is a professor of voice and the General Director of the Lyric Theater @ Illinois. Julie Gunn serves as the Director of Lyric Theatre Studies, Associate Professor of Accompanying and Assistant Director of Development and Engagement for the school of music.

In addition to their academic postings, the Gunns are in high demand across the nation as recitalists and master class instructors. The Gunns have taught at Interlochen Arts Camp several times over the past few summers, and Nathan has performed with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra.

“Nathan and Julie are always winsome and engaging, meeting the students on both an artistic and personal level,” said Jeffrey Norris, the Director of Vocal Music for Interlochen Arts Camp. “We are so excited to have them returning again to share their expertise and talents with our summer students.”
